Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a Symposium presenter?

1. Join us on Canvas (CLICK HERE). Here you will find guidelines and resources for your projects, deadlines for submissions, and announcements on workshops and events.

2. Attend our "Mentor Mixer" on October 1st @ 1-3pm on Zoom (CLICK HERE).*This optional workshop provides an opportunity to connect with potential mentors. Attendance is not required for participation in the Symposium.*

What is the submission deadline?

All of our dates and deadlines can be found HERE in addition to the Canvas link above.

How do I become a Symposium mentor?

Add your name to our mentor list (CLICK HERE). Students interested in participating will use this list to reach out to potential mentors. Please also take a look at our information for mentors page HERE.

How do I find a presentation?

If you are looking for a specific presentation, use the “Search” feature to look it up using the author’s name or a keyword.

You can also browse presentations through the “Schedule” or by specific presentation type (Posters, Exhibitions, etc) by clicking “Home” on the navigation bar.

What if I have questions about a pre-recorded presentation?

After watching the pre-recorded presentation, you may submit questions for the author(s) in the textbox below their abstract on the project page. We will pose these questions to the author(s) during the live Q&A event on March 19th.

 

When and where are the Live Q & A sessions?

The schedule for the Live Q & A sessions can be found under the “Schedule” tab in the navigation bar. To join that Q & A session, click the red “Join Zoom” button that accompanies the specific presentation.

 

I’m a presenter. How do I get to my Q & A Session?

Ten minutes before your scheduled session, join your Zoom room. You can do this by locating your session under the “Schedule” tab or the link we sent to your email.

 

How do I get Extra Credit?

1. During the Live Q & A session, the host will provide a keyword. This keyword is needed for you to confirm your attendance.

2. After you have obtained this password, you will complete a quick survey which you will find under the “Extra Credit” tab.

3. The Committee will email your instructors(s) a list of their students who earn Extra Credit. You will not have to provide proof yourself.

Note: Not all instructors offer extra credit for Symposium attendance. Please check with your instructor.

 

I’m an evaluator. How do I view presentations and attend my assigned Q & A Sessions?

Join the Zoom room for your assigned sessions.  You can do this by locating your session under the “Schedule” tab or the link we sent to your email.

Specific times for each Q & A session are listed under "Schedule" on the navigation bar. After viewing the presentations and Q & A, please click on "Project Evaluation" to submit your score for the project.

Pre-recorded presentations will be available starting at 9:00 A.M. on March 17th, 2021.

Please submit all scores by 2:00 P.M. on March 19th so that we may determine the winner in time for the award ceremony.
